Match Fit USA: MLS Daily Column 7/10

Spending some time with the Canadian press in the box at last night's Gold Cup matches the assumption is DeGuzman wants to stay in Europe and will only accept MLSE offer if it say twice the best European offer. They also think DeGuzman coming to MLS may kill Canada's hopes for qualifying in 2014. It's not good to have your marque player playing in subpar football league (their opinion) when you are not established as a regional power.

On the premise of the article I 100% agree with Jason. I've often said MLS's biggest problem isn't the lack of big name talent, but the fact that the average squad player can find a better pay day in Scanadnavia and thus flees to those leagues (like the Hunter Freeman's, Brian West's, etc) and low level players leave MLS to get perks and slightly more money in USL.

How can a league develop an American talent base if they are constantly losing mid level domestic breed talent to other leagues?
